Description
This set includes images from the story of St Valentine. Although there are many different versions of the legend, it is said that he went against Emperor Claudius’s rule that Roman soldiers could not marry as it made them weaker soldiers. St Valentine married couples in secret but was jailed when this was discovered. He met and fell in love with the jailer’s daughter and cured her blindness before he was put to death on February 14th. He wrote a final letter and signed it, ‘from your Valentine’.
